Software Troubleshooting
Missing Authorization Code
A missing or expired authorization code error may appear when opening either the Tool or Plot Program upon start up. This is caused by an expired or missing code. After installation, when starting the software for the first time you will be prompted for an authorization code. Refer to your email for an authorization code from the Gotek team. If your code has expired, please contact us for a new license.
If you have an authorization code and need to apply or verify your license. Open Gotek Tool Program and select Help, then “Enter Authorization Code.” A dialog will appear with a prompt to enter or verify your code.
Device will not connect
A device not connecting to your computer can be frustrating. First, verify that the cable is attached to your PC and that the circular connector side of the cable assembly is fully inserted into the device. Carefully ensure that the key or “tooth” on the circular connector is lined up before insertion. If the device is still not connecting the fault is most likely a driver issue. Even if the device has connected before, windows updates have been known to remove the driver. The driver is available from the FTDI chip website under VCP Drivers on the downloads page. Select the “Windows (Desktop)” version of the driver corresponding with your CPU architecture. If your not sure, select the link corresponding with “x64 (64-bit).” To ensure that the driver is properly installed, restarting your computer is recommended.
If your issues persist, it may be caused by a faulty cable. Trying a different cable or even a different computer if available may solve your issue. If your issue persists, please contact us!
“MVSC2015” Error
A missing Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio Error can be thrown when opening Gotek Tool Program. This is easily fixed by installing a Microsoft package. The Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 package can be found on Microsoft’s website. Select your Language then select “Download.” You will be prompted to download either the “vcredist.x64.exe” or the “vcredist.x86.exe.” Select the file dependent on your CPU architecture, if your not sure select “vcredist.x64.exe.” Complete the installation of the package and restart your computer before attempting to reattach the device and running the software.
